6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, ...
Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)
Eric and Phyllis have been helping people become debt free since 2002, when they hosted their first Financial Peace University class. Not only did they begin to apply the principles taught to their own lives to become debt free, but seeing other people become debt free encouraged them to continue hosting the class. To date they have hosted 14 FPU classes.
Along the way, they decided they would like to help people by creating plans customized to their individual needs, so they became Dave Ramsey Certified Counselors in 2006. Since then Eric and Phyllis have been actively working in their church and community as Financial Coaches & speakers, helping people integrate Biblical teaching on finance to their own lives.
Eric's passion for helping college students and faculty improve their personal finances comes from over ten years of working in the college and university setting. Eric brings the same drive, intensity, and determination he has used and continues to use in his 17 plus years as a Certified Athletic Trainer. He has worked side by side with High School, College and Olympic athletes as they recovered from injuries, developed strength, and worked their way back to successful competition. He has also worked with students in and out of the classroom, educating future professionals in the field.
Helping students start their post college life without the burden of debt or with a plan to pay off debt rapidly, has fueled his desire to speak both to faculty and students on the dangers of debt and how it is possible to live debt free. In fact, he is a regular speaker on the the topic of personal finance for new faculty orientation at Eastern Kentucky University where he is a full-time tenure track faculty member.
Phyllis has a varied background: teaching, manufacturing, real estate, distribution and retail sales. What she has enjoyed most is being a full-time Financial Coach for a Healthy Marriage Initiative at a local community action partnership since 2007. She has coached couples and singles of all ages & income levels, developed & led budgeting workshops for several community organizations, continued to teach Financial Peace classes and has presented on the topic of 'Marriage and Finances' to community organization leaders in the Bluegrass region. She has also spoken to a MOPS group in Tennessee and a women's conference at First Baptist Church in Richmond, KY on the 'ABCs of Managing Money God's Way'. She loves to share with others how God's word gives us direction in the area of finance and how to apply that on a practical everyday level.
